He has gone on to a lengthy solo career since then; writing\, recording and releasing\nmusic on a range of labels including Matador\, Heavenly\, Warp\, EMI and Fortuna Pop. Since\n2017 Astor has been signed to Tapete Records\, home to Robert Forster\, Lloyd Cole and\nComet Gain among many reputable others. He will be playing songs from his new record\,\nTall Stories & New Religions where he is re-visits and re-imagines his songs from throughout\nhis lengthy and estimable career.\nA lifetime of listening has led me to believe that Pete Astor’s songs would have always found\na way to reach an audience. DESCRIPTION:“Larry John McNally’s songs have the plainspoken eloquence of a Raymond Carver story with fluid\nguitar work that recalls Hendrix.” \nLarry John McNally’s career began in 1981 with the release of his debut album on Columbia Records. Perhaps best categorized as a “Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist”\, he calls his blend of literary lyrics and blues/folk/jazz guitar style\, “Folk-Hendrix”. He continues to record and perform both as a solo artist and with his trio in clubs and concert venues from Tokyo to Kokomo. He is well-known in many circles as a songwriter’s songwriter. His moody\, guitar-driven\, lyrical\, thoughtful songs have been covered by artists from Don Henley (who rarely does outside songs) to Bonnie Raitt\, Rod Stewart\, Joe Cocker\, Jennifer Warnes\, the Staple Singers and Aaron Neville. LJM’s own recordings are coveted treasures among his devotees and delightful finds for those who happen upon them for the first time.
