Its July 1941, our evacuees prepare to leave the village school. Reggie joins the scouts determined to be useful and Lindy prepares for her entrance exam to a private school. Despite these activities that separate them their friendship remains strong, helping each other in different ways. They become entangled in the Cowes blitz on the 4th May 1942 where they witness war at its most ugly.

This is Jo’s third book about Lindy and Reggie’s adventures in Little Bridge on the Isle of Wight. The first one, ‘A Red Sky’ was awarded third place in the Isle of Wight Book Awards, Children’s section, for books published in 2022.
