“As young readers like to know ‘how people look’, we will take this moment to give them a little sketch of the four sisters, who sat knitting away in the twilight, while the December snow fell quietly without, and the fire crackled cheerfully within.”
Listen along as Medina Book’s Katie reads the first chapter of Little Women.
The rest of the book will be released in weekly instalments, every Monday.
A Note from Katie
Little Women was always a firm favourite in our family, perhaps because for a time we were a household of girls and women. We even took to calling my mum Marmee, a nickname which has stood the test of time.
It’s a pleasure for me to read Little Women, and hopefully inspire the younger generation to love the book as much as I do. It’s recent resurgence in popularity, thanks to the latest film, proves that the story has relevance today and we still have a lot to learn from the March sisters.
And, if it’s okay to admit to loving an adaptation, Saoirse Ronan makes a fantastic Jo!
